Bahrain launches new organisation for women in aviation
Bahrain International Airshow 2022 yesterday witnessed the launch of an organisation for women in Bahrain’s aviation sector. The launch was in the presence of Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, the CEO of Bahrain Airport Company.
The organisation, Al Binfalah said, will act as a platform for cooperation and raise awareness about the contribution of women in the air transport sector. The platform will also spotlight career opportunities and promote the principles of gender equality.
Current board members are men and women from various organisations in the aviation sector. They are appointed temporarily to establish the organisation. A new president and board members will come later, while membership is open to both men and women in the aviation industry. Calling the launch a significant “milestone” for the aviation industry, Al Binfalah said women continue to play a crucial role in the development of aviation in the Kingdom.
“Having a dedicated Chapter that highlights their achievements and creates new opportunities for them to join our industry or advance their careers is much needed,” Al Binfalah stressed. He said the Bahrain Airport Company has always championed the principles of gender equality and frequently recognises and celebrates the contributions of our female team members.
The Chapter’s members can attend AGM meetings, share their expertise and insight into the topics on its agenda, and vote on all matters presented. Members will also have the opportunity to attend conferences that align with the Chapter’s objectives, speak at leading events, enter industry awards, and apply for educational scholarships.
