A man seen attacking a shopkeeper unprovoked in a viral video online has landed in police custody. Reportedly, the incident occurred outside a grocery shop in the Muharraq Governorate.
The head of Muharraq Governorate Prosecution said the accused unleashed an unprovoked attack on an Asian national while doing his job.
Cops said the victim suffered multiple injuries from the attack. Public Prosecution said they opened an investigation soon after receiving a report. Police swiftly identified the suspect and took him into custody.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime when officers confronted him with the video of the assault. The suspect is in pre-trial detention pending further investigation. Prosecutors said they are completing procedures to refer him to an urgent criminal trial.
