Bahrain – MPs seek to hit expats with school fees of BD400 per child

Bahrain MPs will this week debate a bill that seeks to reduce the availability of free education to Bahrainis and GCC citizens only.
If approved, the bill, which was originally proposed in 2015 by MP Jalal Kadhim, will impose a BD400 annual fee for each non-Bahraini student.
Currently the law stipulates that fundamental (primary and intermediate) and secondary education should be free for all children of families legally residing in Bahrain.
