Oman: Clarification Issued Regarding Gas Explosion in Muscat Governorate
The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), has denied the rumours circulating on social media platforms about the size of the gas cylinder that led to an explosion in a restaurant in the Mabela area, Wilayat of Seeb.
“A reference to what was circulated on social media, about the size of the gas cylinder. The authority would like to clarify that what was published is incorrect. Emphasising not to publish and circulate information that was not issued by the official authorities, ” CDAA said in a statement.
The circulating rumour stated: “With regard to the gas explosion accident in one of the Mabela restaurants, one of the expatriates from the same building said that the size of the gas cylinder is 600 gallons.”
The Authority said on Sunday, August 13, 2023 that an explosion occurred in one of restaurants in the southern Mabela area in the Wilayat of Seeb. 18 people were moderately and lightly injured and a number of vehicles and buildings were affected as a result of the explosion that occurred in a restaurant.
