Dubai Building World’s ‘Second-Tallest Tower,’ Says Azizi Boss

Dubai will soon be home to the world’s second-tallest building, according to Azizi chief Farhad Azizi, who announced the same via Twitter.

“It’s official: we are building what will be the second-tallest building in the world. My father, Mirwais Azizi, was recently invited to appear on BBC Persia, where he revealed our plans to build a new tower in Dubai which will share the skies with Burj Khalifa and other skyscrapers in the city. This will mark a breakthrough achievement for the Azizi brand, and we couldn’t be prouder, especially looking back at our humble origins in Afghanistan, when my father started the company with $500 in 1989. As for the name of this new tower, it’s still pending, but it will ultimately represent the Azizi Developments brand,” Azizi said via Twitter.

While the name or height of the building has not been revealed, it will reportedly be built at a prime location on Sheikh Zayed Road.

This skyscraper has the potential to overshadow both the towering Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, reaching a height of 2,227.3 ft, and the magnificent Shanghai Tower, which stands at an impressive 2,073.4 ft, reports have suggested.
