As part of the UAE’s Year of Giving, the Dubai Health Authority has launched a Giving and Happiness initiative, which aims to support those with “limited means”. Patients unable to afford healthcare will soon have access to free treatment at several private hospitals and clinics in Dubai.
Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, director of health regulation, said 10 private health facilities have already signed on to take part in the initiative. In addition to the free treatments, other health services would be provided at a more affordable cost.
He added there had been “notable interest” from other private providers wanting to help, and the number of participating health facilities was likely to increase to 26. Patients must meet certain criteria to be eligible for the free treatment, details of which are expected to be released soon.
