The next time you drive on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, look out for some smileys! As you enter the northern area of the country via the road, you will be greeted by three large smiling emojis. To drive home the point of road safety, a message in three languages – Arabic, English, and Urdu – is displayed, too: ‘Drive safely’.
Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of the roads department at the ministry, said the ministry’s initiatives are aimed at making the UAE society happy. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Development had commissioned the project to raise awareness about road safety in a happy manner. More smileys will soon appear on other federal roads as well.
“Federal roads projects which the ministry supervises in different parts of the country aim to basically make the people happy and provide them a decent life. Road users are encouraged to call on 80088889 in case they wish to bring emergency maintenance requests to the ministry’s notice.
