Oman opens drive-through COVID-19 tests at airports tomorrow

As commercial airline operations are set to resume from 1 October, the key stakeholders in this sector are seen in a flurry of activities, putting in place the required steps to ensure COVID-19 compliance.

Oman Airports has recently stated that drive-through PCR testing facilities have been put up at Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport to facilitate sample collection. Those wishing to take this option, will have to book through Tarassud Plus app after furnishing the necessary details. The test results will be communicated within 24 hours through the same app. The price set for the drive-through PCR tests is OMR 19.

Apart from the drive-through facility, there are testing facilities inside the airports for arriving passengers, that necessarily needs one to pre-book via the Tarassud app for a fee of RO 25. If the tests results are negative, passengers staying less than 7 days will continue their stay in the Sultanate normally and follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Passengers staying more than 7 days are required to wear a wristband and follow a 14-day quarantine irrespective of the test results. If the test results are positive, steps, as mandated by the health authorities, need to be strictly followed.

All other mandatory safety measures will be strictly ensured at the Oman Airports including social distancing, wearing of masks, besides installing thermal cameras to identify persons with elevated body temperature. Hand sanitising and handwashing stations have been installed at convenient points.
