UAE driver arrested over unpaid traffic fines worth DH1.2M

Sharjah Police have referred an Asian driver to traffic prosecution for committing 132 violations which resulted in fines of Dh1,193,840. Major Mohammad Abdurrahman bin Qasmul, head of Wasit Comprehensive Police Station, said the Anjad Traffic Patrols arrested an Asian driver who committed a number of serious violations and failed to pay the fines on time.

He pointed out that the violations registered against the number plate of his vehicle amounted to Dh214,730, and violations registered on his driver’s license reached Dh879,110.

Most of the violations committed by the driver included using the vehicle to provide lift services for passengers. He was slapped with a fine which reached up to Dh115,000,000 issued by the Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah.
