UAE’s G42 Announces Launch of AI Language Model ‘Jais’

Developed in partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), G42 announced the launch of a new Arabic Large Learning Language model open sourced by AI. ‘Jais’ a name inspired by UAE’s highest peak is a a result between the collaboration between MBZUAI and Cerebras Systems.

A model homegrown in the UAE of 13-billion parameters trained on 395-billion token Arabic and English dataset. Jais aims to bring the potential of AI to over 400 million Arabic speakers.

Inception and MBZUAI established an academic partnership with various institutions to provide early access for testing purposes. Academic partners include Sorbonne Paris Nord – LIPN, NYU Abu Dhabi’s CAMeL Lab, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Edinburgh and more.

Jais will also start to be utilised by several organisations including the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Etihad Airways, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), and e&.
