2018 is going to be a busy year for new hotel openings in the UAE, which means it’s going to be a busy old time checking out new restaurants, bars, pool days and spas. “The spotlight is firmly on the hospitality industry in this region, particularly the UAE,” said Ray Tinston, portfolio director at DMG Events Middle East, Asia and Africa.
That rings particularly true, when we look at some of the enormous projects currently ongoing, through 2018 and beyond. The Royal Atlantis is scheduled to open in 2019, the sister hotel to Atlantis The Palm largely on track despite recent design changes. The Palm is also in the midst of a number of projects, and 2018 will see a number of them move closer to completion, including the new St. Regis at Nakheel Mall, plus a Four Seasons, Hilton and Byblos all being developed on the Palm’s western base.
Tophotelprojects has released the Middle East and Africa Hotel Construction report, which says the UAE is due to open 83 new hotels across the country throughout the course of the year. It seems like there’s always a new Dubai hotel about to open, and that’s because of the 200 projects currently ongoing across the country, 164 are being developed in this very emirate.
