Recharge and refresh at the beautiful, secluded Avani+ Samui Resort, a place where solo travellers, couples and families will rediscover themselves. If you’re looking for a tropical getaway, follow my footsteps to this beachside spot, tucked within a rich surrounding of nature and water.

I decided on a solo trip since I’d had a busy first half of the year. Departing from Bahrain, I embarked on a 5-day trip to Koh Samui, a place that captivated me with some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I have ever witnessed in my life. I always love landing in Koh Samui, as many agree with me, it’s one of the cutest little charming airports you’ll ever fly into.

I like to take such solo trips once a year, I call them my “annual wellness and recharge trips”. I will always choose somewhere with lots of beautiful nature, where I can do my thinking, reading, long walks and hard training in solitude.

From check-in to check-out, the superstar service at this resort coupled with the typical Thai charm made for a friendly and customer-focused experience that I would recommend you discover for yourself.

The Location

This Avani+ Samui Resort is tucked in a corner of the quiet Panka Bay, providing a remote and serene slice of island paradise. If you’re looking for a bustling beach party, you’re not going to find it here, thus the basis of its appeal for my wellness retreat.

Book a villa and get your private pool or feel free to mingle with others on the property in your search for improved wellness. The bay offers a chance to board longtail boats for island discovery, where you can be whisked off for fishing, snorkelling, never-ending parties, or simply to further cocoon yourself within nature.

I personally enjoyed the beaches, facilities (including daily use of the gym), and long walks within the natural surroundings both on and off the property. Super convenient shuttle service from Koh Samui airport directly to the hotel made it much easier to arrive and depart, and I recommend hiring a scooter to venture your way around the island as I did. It gave me the freedom to discover the place on my terms. Whenever I’m in Southeast Asia, I’m always accompanied by a 2 wheeler to cart me around wherever it is I am!

Dining and Amenities

While the villa gives you your own private pool, the resort is equipped with two pools that open up to the beach. One is exclusively for adults, a prime spot for couples or solo travellers who want more peace.

There’s also a spa to help refresh and relax, complimentary yoga and Muay Thai classes, and access to paddle boards and kayaks. The wellness consultant on staff is an excellent assistant for helping you release stress while other classes such as cooking, kite flying, or even boomerang lessons are offered, letting you choose your adventure. You’ll find much to do yet without a pressing need to do it all, allowing you to find your way to unwind in these serene surroundings.

As for dining, Essence Restaurant provides a sublime poolside view that extends beyond the bay. Inside, watch the magic unfold in the open kitchen that provides scrumptious international meals for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Couples can also request a private romantic dinner on the beach, weather permitting, to enhance their stay. The breakfast is served as a buffet, though it does provide myriad options that ensure you’ll find something you’ll enjoy.

The Rooms

With just 58 rooms and villas, this resort is on the smaller side. However, that’s an advantage when you’re seeking to reconnect with your own soul, or with one another. You can choose deluxe rooms with large balconies, found in the area above the lobby.

The rooms that are closer to the pools are smaller and less airy by comparison, though the villas are just the right kind of space. They’re spacious and private, and they come with their own pools, some even with direct beach access.

While none of the rooms contain minibars, there are ample options for purchase available in the lobby. Overall, the Avani+ Samui Resort was truly a treat for my senses, allowing me to get the rest and relaxation I desperately desired.

Verdict

This was my third time visiting Thailand and my second time visiting Koh Samui. The island has a lot to offer with something for everyone – it’s a truly magical Thai island. What makes this resort so beautiful and unique is its peace and tranquillity. You’ll be hard-pressed to find another resort in Koh Samui to offer this level of beauty and peace!
