Anger at US Embassy for Promoting LGBTQ Ideology in Bahrain

The National Unity Assembly’s President, Abdullah Al Howaihi has hit back at the advertisements and promotions of LGBTQI+ rights by an embassy in Bahrain.

In his note, the NUA President said such ideologies were against Islamic values and culture, and had led to campaigns and demonstrations where Bahraini families had rejected the concept.

The US Embassy in Bahrain marked Pride Month on its social media handles. “The United States supports efforts to promote inclusion and acceptance of LGBTQI+ persons,” the statement read.

Further, it was reported in the Gulf Daily News (GDN) that Bahrain Chamber Board member, Sonya Janahi had accused the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a UN agency of promoting “alien concepts” through its “social justice and decent work for all” agenda. Janahi said there’s a need to ensure such concepts don’t affect the social fabric of the country.
