Bahrain: 18 arrested for terror bombing plot

The Bahraini High Court has ruled sentences from five years to life on 18 Bahrainis for being part of a terrorist cell plotting to bomb key landmarks in the Kingdom, including the CID headquarters.

The court sentenced eight defendants to life imprisonment, two others were handed 15 years, another two were handed 10 years, five were handed 5 years, and one was given 7 years. Nine of the defendants have fled the country.

The defendants, aged between 17 and 37, were found guilty of forming a cell supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. They were also convicted of receiving militia training abroad and possessing explosives since 2017.
