Bahrain: Covid measure violators to face fines, jail terms

Chief Prosecutor of Ministries and Public Entities said that the ministerial edict issued in March last year on banning the gathering of more than five persons on roads, streets, squares, beaches and other public places aims to impose social distancing and regulate gatherings in order to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus

He called on all citizens and residents to adhere to the instructions issued by the concerned authorities related to health safety requirements, rules of social distancing and the prevention of gatherings in all their forms, shapes and venues.

He warned that violators receive jail terms of up to three years, and fines that may reach BD 5,000, stressing that the penalties will be doubled whenever the crime is repeated.
