Bahrain: 347 Bangladeshis To Be Sent Back Home

A total of 347 Bangladeshi migrant workers, including detainees, are scheduled to be sent back home by the Kingdom of Bahrain on April 26, said officials in Dhaka and Manama.

They would be repatriated to Bangladesh by chartered flights which would be arranged by Bahrain government, officials said.

On arrival in Dhaka, the migrant workers would be screened at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and later they would be quarantined, said health ministry officials.

In March, 300 Bangladeshi detainee migrants were released by the Bahrain government, according to Bangladesh Embassy in Manama. Another 47 Bangladeshis were readied for voluntary repatriation.

The Bangladeshis had been jailed in Bahrain for various offences and they were among 901, who were pardoned by the king of Bahrain.

Over 200,000 Bangladeshis are currently working in Bahrain, according to foreign ministry officials.

After screening at the airport, the healthy migrants would be quarantined at Hajj camps for 14 days and only sick migrants would be sent to the designated hospitals.
