A total of 413 Bangladeshi nationals left Bahrain for Bangladesh by a special flight of Biman Bangladesh airlines. According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain, the embassy arranged special flight at the request of expatriates who wanted to return home due to health reasons and family emergencies.
Among the 413 passengers, 70 are sick and 40 deportees, according to the statement. The Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain bore the full cost of airfares for the 18 people and partial airfares for 50 others from the Expatriate Welfare Fund.
Embassy sources also reported that scores of undocumented Bangladeshi migrant workers have so far applied to get regularised under an amnesty programme declared by Bahrain government in early April.
