UAE Says All Events Serving Alcohol Need CID Approval From Feb. 15

The UAE is making a change to alcohol rules in the country.

Starting on February 15 any corporate or private events in the UAE serving alcohol will require a mandatory CID alcohol permit, according to a circular.

The CID alcohol permit can be applied for by the hotel on behalf of the event organiser or client as long as a fee is paid.

The fee for the CID alcohol permit will be AED1,250 per event and per day.

All events, both commercial and non-commercial, must apply for the permit in advance says the circular.

The permit must be applied for at least 14 days in advance of the event.

In order to apply for the CID alcohol permit, the following documents are needed:

  • Valid Emirates ID
  • DET permit (as per event/entertainment type provided by hotel)

The circular sent to venues in the United Arab Emirates says: “The hotel’s obligation to secure CID Alcohol Permit to serve alcohol for the event is conditional upon the UAE CID and DET regulatory requirements and laws then prevailing, submission of required documentation and payment of CID Permit”.
