Saudi Arabia Cracks Down on Unlicenced Airport Rides, Imposes SAR5,000 Fine

Saudi Arabia has announced the imposition of SAR5,000 for passenger services by unlicensed vehicles.

The Saudi General Transport Authority also launched a joint awareness campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Guests of God Service Programme, the Public Prosecution, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and Airports Holding Company to check the practice of such services by unauthorised vehicle operators.

The authority advised such carriers to join one of the licensed companies and benefit from the incentives and support programmes provided for them.

The authority said various airports in the country offer a wide range of transportation options to meet the needs of travellers, through nearly 2,000 taxis, more than 55 car rental offices, frequent public transport buses, and licensed passenger transportation applications.

Besides, the Haramain Express train at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah also can be used by travellers to reach various destinations.

The authority’s move to crack down on illegal operations by vehicle owners is to improve the safety and comfort of travellers.

The authority also stressed that providing high-quality transportation services at airports is an essential factor for improving the travellers’ experience.
