Bahrain: AUBH concludes its Fourth Annual AUBH President’s Run

The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) concluded the fourth edition of its Annual AUBH President’s Run, Under the Patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

The event was attended by the Minister of Health H.E. Dr. Jaleela Jawad Hassan; General Secretary of the Higher Education Council, H.E. Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa; the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth, Her Excellency Sara Ishaq; General Sports Authority Deputy Chairman H.H. Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; General Sports Authority CEO Dr. AbdulRahman Askar; Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Faris Al Kooheji; President of Bahrain Schools of Collegiate Athletics Association, Dr. Shaikh Sager Al Khalifa, senior officials in the Kingdom, youth from national high schools and universities, and the AUBH Community.

The Run’s Opening Ceremony kicked off with welcome speech by AUBH Founding President Dr. Bradley J. Cook, highlighting the University’s ethos of a “Sound Mind, Sound Body” and emphasizing that the AUBH
Community is vested in each student’s unique journey. This yearly sporting event underscored the confidence, positive thinking, and resilience, necessary for a lifetime of success.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasized on the pivotal role of sports in youth development, calling on all Bahraini schools and universities to endorse sports as a part of the learning experience, and praising AUBH for leading the way.

The Annual AUBH President’s Run has rapidly grown over the past few years, with the 2022 event being the largest, under the motto OneTeamOneRun. The AUBH President and AUBH Students were also joined with fellow faculty members, staff, parents, and supporters who cheered on the runners and enjoyed the festivities surrounding the event.

Runners wore their AUBH t-shirts and caps along the 5K route, culminating in the distribution of finishers’ medals being awarded to all runners. Following the Run, the festivities continued with live entertainment, food and beverages vendors, and a lineup of entertainers.

Dr. Cook who crossed the finish line with the AUBH Students commented: “It was an honor for us to have our Patron His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attending and endorsing this symbolic youth-oriented event, and this is one of many community events we aim on hosting this year. Being with our students and seeing our campus alive with a dynamic student spirit was beautiful! “

The sponsors of the event included Elysian Water as the official water sponsor of the event; Fuddruckers, Caribou, and Geely; Dallah as the strategic event partner; the General Sports Authority, the Bahrain Schools of Collegiate Athletics Association, the Royal Golf Club, and the Bahrain Specialist Hospital, as partners in success. The media sponsors of this year’s edition included Radio Bahrain, Gulf
Insider, and Local BH. This event celebrated the teamwork between the AUBH administration and
students, building momentum for all future campus activities.
