Citizens with valid driving licences may soon get every month 100 litres of fuel for free.
A draft proposal, which aims at supporting citizens and help ease their financial burdens that came with the hike in the price of petrol will be submitted by MP Nabeel Albloushi.
The economic committee is expected to approve the proposal before forwarding it to the government in its meeting at the House of Representatives today.
“It will mainly target low and middle income citizens in an aim to lessen the impact of this hike on their standards of living,” a statement issued by the committee said.
“Bahraini citizens are the main consumers of gasoline, and the decision to raise the price of gasoline has not been easy on them, especially for those belonging to low-income families,” it added.
