Bahrain: Kids Under-16 Banned on Jet Skis Without Parental Consent

Individuals under the age of 16 are prohibited from riding a jet ski unless accompanied by a guardian who grants consent. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications said this while announcing a set of instructions for using jet skis, as water sports gains popularity amid rising summer temperatures.

The guidelines aim to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals engaging in this thrilling water activity, the ministry said. According to the ministry, jet skis should only be operated during daylight hours, in adherence to the specified instructions and regulations. It’s also mandatory to use life jackets for all passengers.

Additionally, drivers should keep the safety key either fastened around their wrist or secured within the life jacket. The ministry also highlighted the necessity of avoiding public beaches, passages, and marine units. It is also strictly forbidden to engage in racing or perform any dangerous manoeuvres while operating a jet ski.
