In celebration of Bahrain’s national holidays, marking the establishment of the modern Bahraini State as an Arab and Muslim state founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession, the Bahrain December Festival is set to feature a diverse programme of events and activities throughout December.
Sarah Ahmed Buheji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), commended the vital role of the private sector in supporting the Bahrain December Festival through strategic partnerships and individual initiatives that enhance the Kingdom’s tourism experience. She expressed appreciation to contributors, emphasising that this collaboration reflects the synergy between government and private entities, further positioning Bahrain as a leading regional and international tourist destination.
Buheji highlighted the efforts of major sponsors, including GFH Financial Group, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Infracorp, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), Marassi Al Bahrain, Beyon, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), Cebarco, and Urbaser, whose support has been instrumental in delivering key events.
The Bahrain December Festivaloffers a wide array of activities. Muharraq will host the third edition of the Muharraq Nights festival from December 5-30 along the Pearling Path, from Bu Maher Fort to the Pearling Path Visitors Centre. For the first time, all houses along the path will open their doors to the public, showcasing exhibits and artefacts highlighting Bahrain’s pearl economy era.
Other highlights include the World Weightlifting Championship, from December 4-15 near the Bahrain National Theatre, attracting top athletes from around the globe. Additionally, the National Day Cup will take place on 13 December at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club, combining sporting and entertainment events for visitors.
Musical performances will feature international and regional artists, including rapper Eminem and Arab artist Majid Al Mohandes, at the Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre. A Bahraini Night concert on December 15 will showcase local artists Khalid Al Shaikh, Hind, Mohammed Al Bakri, and Samawaa Al Shaikh.
Other activities include the return of the Farmers’ Market at the Botanical Garden in Budaiya, with participation from local farmers, craftsmen, and small enterprises. Visitors can also enjoy water activities, such as pearl diving trips and beach visits, showcasing Bahrain’s natural beauty and its unique tourism identity.
Shopping centres, including Moda Mall, The Avenues, and City Centre Bahrain, will offer special promotions, while luxury hotels will feature exclusive packages during the national celebrations.
Fireworks displays will illuminate Bahrain’s skies on December 16 at various locations to celebrate National Day, with another display planned at Bahrain Bay on December 31 to welcome the New Year.
