Bahrain: Expat Couple Arrested For Drug Trafficking, Prostitution

The court has sentenced an expat couple to five years imprisonment for drug trafficking and an other year for prostitution with a fine of BD3000.

The Thai woman was allegedly trafficking Methamphetamine, a drug known as “Shabu” in Bahrain for BD200-BD500 through her boyfriend who played the role of a middleman.

The Ministry of Interior took the couple under custody through an undercover agent who offered to buy shabu worth BD440. After sealing the deal, the agent alerted the Anti-narcotics department.

Upon investigation, the officers retrieved the money as well as drugs from the women’s possession. Her boyfriend told prosecutors that she masterminded the drug business while also admitting his hand in the prostitution.
