Bahrain: Expats may require to present qualification certificates

The House of Representatives approved a bill to amend the 2006 Labour Market Regulatory Law, which aims to set a condition for the issuance of work permits to foreign workers.

Under the proposal, expatriates will be required to present genuine academic and university qualification certificates to prove their eligibility to carry out specific roles.

The parliamentary proposal will be referred to the government for review and approval.

MP Ghazi Al Rahma said that it is important for expatriates to possess proper education and training, especially in the education, medical and engineering disciplines to ensure professionalism.
