Bahrain: Proposal to Close Parks, Gardens Temporarily

A proposal for a temporary closure of public gardens, parks, walkways and stadiums was discussed. This came in the Capital Municipal Council’s weekly meeting.

The meeting, which was held electronically yesterday, discussed a number of topics, but the closure of the public facilities that are subject to the administration of the Capital Municipality was the most prominent topic.

The council noted that that the proposal aimed to support preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 to maintain the safety of visitors and users of public park, gardens, walkways and playgrounds.

The council agreed to discuss the exemption of fees for the tenants of the municipality’s property for a period of 3 months, starting from last March, and it is scheduled to be discussed as an urgent matter in the relevant committee, to be approved during the next meeting.
