Bahrain: Few Private Hospitals Permitted to Conduct COVID-19 Tests

A number of private hospitals across the Kingdom are now permitted to conduct tests for the coronavirus (COVID-19), National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) CEO Dr. Mariam Al-Jalahma announced.

Dr. Al-Jalahma emphasized that health services from continuous screening, quarantine, and treatment will remain free at all quarantine centers, besides the isolation centers, for both citizens and residents in Bahrain.

This will provide an additional option to conduct testing on patients suspected to be infected with COVID-19 or those who are asymptomatic, upon their request.

She indicated out that the mechanism for the test will be that those permitted hospitals will conduct the tests and then send the samples to public health laboratories where the results shall be extracted, pointing out that fees for the tests are to be determined by the hospital.

The private hospitals who are granted permits are said to be; Al Salam Specialist Hospital, American Mission Hospital, Royal Bahrain Hospital, Awali Hospital, Bahrain Specialist Hospital, Al Kindi Hospital, Ibn Al Nafees Hospital and Dr Tariq Saeed Hospital.
