The Bahrain football Olympic team is in Bangkok, Thailand, preparing for the 2020 U-23 Asian Championship, which will be held from January 8-26. Team director Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al-Khalifa is leading the delegation, which includes national coach Samir Chammam, assistant coach Bader Khalil and 23 players.
Bahrain will take on Vietnam on the 3rd of January in a friendly match, before taking on Thailand on January 8 in the opening match of championship. The national squad will then play Iraq on January 11 before concluding the group phase against Australia on January 14.
The top two teams from each group will qualify to the knock-out phase. The regulations stipulated also that the top three teams will qualify to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
