Bahrain: Health Ministry employees jailed for rigging attendance record

The High Criminal Court sentenced four Health Ministry employees to one year imprisonment for manipulating their attendance record in order to add overtime hours, for which they received various amounts.

The four men were paid a total extra amount ranging between BD 1,900 and BD 600 each for the extra hours. The High Criminal Court ordered them to return the money they unduly received.

On top of that, they were fined equal amounts each for the crime.

The defendants were tried after they triggered suspicions for demanding to be paid extra for staying at work for extra hours.

They submitted their electronic attendance log as proof after they found a way to rig it. They were investigated and later tried for forgery and dishonesty.
