Bahrain: Human Rights in Quarantine Centers Monitored

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has affirmed that Bahrain has taken all preemptive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) while taking into consideration human rights, like the right to health and privacy.

In line with its monitoring role, the institution’s committee started field visits to the isolation, quarantine and treatment centres.

They met the medical teams as well as some of the quarantined people there to get informed about adherence to human rights in such circumstances, in tune with the precautionary measures set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

NIHR added the committee will continue the field visits to different locations and meet relevant parties to ascertain of the implementation of appropriate measures in this regard and provide health and psychological consultancy to the isolated and quarantined people in a way that is consistent with human rights.
