Bahrain: Illegal Expat Workers Arrested

Nineteen expats arrested for trying to enter Oman illegally.

The Director-General of the Capital Governorate Police Directorate stated that within the efforts exerted to combat the phenomenon of illegal expatriate workers and to monitor street vendors in violation of the laws and regulations, the Governorate Police have managed to arrest 28 of illegal expat workers for residency and labour rules.

He clarified that the Department Police carried out a law enforcement campaign on Shaikh Hamad road and Sasaa bin Suhan road in cooperation with the Directorate of Search and Follow Up Directorate of the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Labor Market Regulatory Authority and Capital Municipality, which ended up arresting 28 workers, including the confiscation of a number of illegal vendors’ stands.

The Director-General of the Capital Governorate Police Directorate indicated that the necessary legal measures are being taken towards those arrested.
