Bahrain: Infrastructure Projects Progressing As Per Schedule

Essam Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, stressed that infrastructure projects in the sectors (roads, sanitation, buildings, municipalities) will not stop due to coronavirus and that the work is proceeding according to the timeline.

He stressed the necessity of the contracting companies’ commitment to take precautionary and preventive measures to protect and maintain the safety of workers in the various projects sites, in line with the goals of the national campaign to combat the breakout of coronavirus.

The Minister directed these companies to take all necessary precautions by following the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the Civil Service Bureau and emphasized the need to check the temperature for workers in those sites, in addition to wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

The Minister also affirmed that municipal affairs stopped receiving any cash payments and alternatively launched e-payment services through machines or the internet.
