Bahrain’s military said its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed dozens of incoming missiles and drones in recent days, as tensions linked to Iranian attacks continued to reverberate across the Gulf.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said that since Saturday, 28 February 2026, its air defence units had shot down 74 missiles and 92 drones launched toward the kingdom. The interceptions formed part of what the authorities characterised as a response to an ongoing campaign of aggression directed at Bahrain.
The military said its forces remained fully prepared to confront any threat that might endanger the country’s security or undermine its sovereignty. Defence systems, the statement added, were operating at the highest levels of readiness, allowing the armed forces to respond quickly and decisively to potential attacks.
Officials also condemned the use of ballistic missiles and drones against civilian areas and private property, describing such actions as violations of international humanitarian law and the principles outlined in the Charter of the United Nations, including the requirements of distinction and proportionality.
Such strikes, the statement said, represent a direct threat to regional stability and security in an already volatile period for the Gulf.
