Bahrain: ‘Lack of public beaches and events’ affects Hospitality & Tourism

The roundtable meeting for hotels, travel agencies, and events management companies were held by the hospitality and tourism committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) headed by Jehad Ebrahim Amin at Bait Al Tijjar.

On the key challenges facing the sector, Amin told the participants that the sector is facing a severe competition between hotels resulting in a drop in the average room rates.

He also identified “the lack of public beaches and attractive events” among the factors affecting the sector. The meeting, which deliberated about the challenges of hotels, travel agencies, and events management companies, recommended streamlining the procedures for obtaining a visa for tourists.

Jehad Amin vowed sparing no effort to streamline the hospitality and tourism sector, and putting it to its true potential during the meeting.

The meeting was held in the presence of the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Nader Al Moayed and other officials from the authority.

In his regard, BTEA’s CEO Al Moayed expressed the readiness of the authority to consolidate efforts to spur the hospitality and tourism sector in Bahrain. Al Moayed also shared the strategy of the authority and highlighted important prospective projects including the new Exhibition and Convention Center in Sakheer.
