Bahrain: More than 10,000 face masks violations recorded

A total of 10,866 face mask violations in public places were registered in Bahrain since the decision to make wearing them mandatory was implemented on Monday.

Brigadier-General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Public Security Assistant Chief for Operations and Training Affairs, explained that according to the statistics, the Northern Governorate Police Directorate recorded 2,643 violations, the Capital Governorate Police Directorate reported 2,096 violations.

Meanwhile, the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate registered 2,989 violations, and 1,808 violations were registered by the Southern Governorate Police.

He noted that the Operations Department at the General Security recorded 1,246 violations, while the General Administration of Ports Security recorded 84 violations.

Al Khalifa affirmed the General Security Presidency’s keenness to take legal measures against violators, which, he added, aimed at strengthening the commitment to limit the spread of COVID-19.

He added that the measures taken aim to preserve the safety of society and its members from exposure to infection of the virus.
