A parliamentary proposal to reduce the number of working hours from six to four and a half hours in government offices during Ramadan has been rejected by the Government.

A government committee rejected the proposal stating “Such a change could have repercussions for citizens. It would put pressure on the private sector to reduce the working hours as well.”

Currently, the working hours at government bodies such as ministries, public authorities and institutions are from 8 am to 2 pm.
