Bahrain Fort’s condition under constant expert monitoring

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has stated that the situation and condition of the Bahrain Fort are being constantly monitored by experts.

BACA affirmed that it had been aware of the fallen parts of the Bahrain Fort for several months, noting that part of the previous restoration works in the 1990s were carried out in the form of an external stone cladding covering the old walls of the fort.

BACA also indicated that a team of international experts had been preparing the first phase of restoration work, which is the preliminary studies phase, in which the current situation and condition of the fort building are evaluated, using modern techniques to study its construction condition and the problems in it.

For this reason, 3D laser scanning and analysis of building materials were used, in order to determine the causes of damage and the factors that had led to the fall of parts of the external walls of the fort.

A team is constantly monitoring the constructional condition of the fort, BACA added.
