Fines concerned with the new cleanliness law starts from BD50 and can go up to BD1000 for violators said the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
Littering, urinating or spitting are some of the violations that will be heavily penalized under the new law. The law imposes higher fines of up to BD1, 000 for transporting garbage or dangerous substances without a license.
He assured that the possibility of reconciliation with the municipality without resorting to the court is there.
He explained that this is possible when the violator pays one-third of the maximum amount of the fine prescribed for violations of all kinds before referral to the competent court and two-thirds after referral to the court and before the verdict.
The new law will also specify ways of dealing with waste as well as transport and disposal mechanism.
