Bahrain: New Three-Lane Dual Bridge on Way for Isa Town Interchange

The Ministry of Works has unveiled plans for upgrading the Isa Town North Interchange with a new bridge to ease traffic congestion in the Isa Town region. According to a tender launched, the project plans to create a three-lane dual bridge along the Shaikh Salman Highway in both the north and south directions to ensure a smooth traffic flow on Sheikh Salman Street and at the entrances to Isa Town.

Works also involve the creation of slips roads and junctions and improving the Shaikh Salman highway and turnings between Salmabad & Amman Avenue. The new bridge is expected to improve traffic flow on Sheikh Salman Street and Sheikh Isa bin Salman Street for those coming from Manama, Sitra and Muharraq, especially at peak hours.

Only registered contractors with a valid Pre-qualification License with the Ministry of Works under Road Works Grade AA with Bridge Works Experience are eligible to participate in bidding. Interested parties should make bids before the 4th of June 2023 with a BD5,000 bond having 180 days validity. Tender documents are available for purchase online through https://etendering.tenderboard.gov.bh starting from the 02nd of May 2023.

Micro, small, and medium enterprises would obtain a 10% preference in the financial evaluation stage when submitting the “SMEs Classification Certificate” during bidding for this tender. It’s worth knowing that the Isa Town Gate intersection, according to a recent survey, handles over 11,000 vehicles during peak hours, while its capacity remains at 7,500 per hour. The upgrade is set to improve traffic and ease congestion for residents and commuters alike.
