Bahrain: “No Additional Costs” For Biodegradable Garbage Bags

The Works Ministry has confirmed that there will be “no additional Costs” for the distribution of biodegradable garbage bags in the Kingdom. The specific fee for garbage bags will be contained within the municipal fees as per the regular practice.

Single-use plastic bags across Bahrain will be banned from July 21 and the municipality has conveyed to the garbage bag suppliers to incorporate a new eco-friendly and bio-degradable environment for the consumers.

Biodegradable garbage bags vending machine project is named “Sahal” which translates to “Easy”. The vending machines are meant to be user-friendly, requiring the user’s ID and EWA account to check eligibility to the user to receive the bag.
