A journal recently published by Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) revealed that obese school children have reached an unprecedented high level.

The data gathered from a total of 2,852 students aged between ages 10 to 12 denoted that 21.7 % of the students were overweight and 22.5 % were obese. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher in females, compared to males.

The study indicated that eating disorders and lack of physical activities are the main contributors to overweight and obesity which is one of the most common chronic disorders among adolescents.
