“The old airport will be phased out a month after the opening of the new passengers’ terminal,” stated the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications.
The minister added that the ministry has invested all modern technologies and devices that are being piloted in all prestigious international airports and will be available at the new terminal.
It is noteworthy that the new 207,000 sqm terminal will be four times the size of the existing one once complete, and will handle 14 million passengers a year.
There will be 36 passport control booths and 104 check-in counters to make sure everything runs smoothly.
An expanded road network is being built in preparation for the new terminal.
