Bahrain: Price of Certain Fruits And Vegetables Drop By 40%

A number of traders have reported a 40% drop in the price of fruits and vegetables according to a news report by Albilad.

The price of tomatoes was previously BD3 is almost BD2 while the price of leafy vegetables like lettuce dropped to BD4.500 per box when it was BD6 according to the traders, adding that the price of potatoes fell from BD1.700 to BD1.200.

On the other hand, Bahrain’s local markets have witnessed more than a 100% increase in the price of onions as the price rose from 120 fils per kilo to 250 fils.

Traders linked the reasons for this increase to the lack of supply and increased demand due to floods and rains in both India and Pakistan and the recent wave of high prices in Egypt.
