Bahrain: Produce Prices Back to Normal

The local markets witnessed a big breakthrough in the availability of for vegetables and fruits in general and tomatoes and onions in particular.

This came after local markets in Bahrain witnessed fraud and manipulation in prices of fruits and vegetables that led to double of their original prices.

But with the government taking strong control and exporting countries allowing the exports again, prices dropped back to normal.

Fruit and vegetable traders confirmed that the prices of onions and tomatoes decreased by 50%. They explained that the price of onions decreased from 600 fils to 300 fils per kilo, the price of tomatoes decreased by 50%. There is still, however, a shortage of lemon in the market due to the lack of shipments from Africa and Egypt.
