Bahrain records 2,957 new COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths

Out of 20,310 COVID-19 tests carried out on 28 May 2021, 2957 new cases have been detected among 1,134 expatriate workers, 1819 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 4 travel related.

There were 1,746 recoveries, increasing total recoveries to 203,429.

Fourteen women, 10 Bahrainis, aged 57, 89, 81, 55, 51, 72, 63, 31, 35 and 46, and four expats, 56, 65, 49 and 42 died yesterday, taking the death toll to 923.

Seven men, five Bahrainis, aged 33, 46, 75, 61 and 54, and two expats, both 43, also died of the coronavirus.

No further information was provided on whether they suffered any pre-existing medical conditions.

There are currently 258 cases in a critical condition, and 449 cases receiving treatment. 27,815 are stable out of a total of 28,073 active cases
