A surge in electricity prices has forced a number of cold stores and small vendors to turn off their refrigerators at night causing some of the products to become stale.

The illness of a man on consuming spoilt milk led to an investigation, which revealed that the vendor switched off the refrigerator causing the product to decay.

Cold store owners voice concerns with rising electricity costs and an increased number of hypermarkets resulting in less income to meet their expenses.
