Bahrain: Rodents on Muharraq Beach – Municipality to Spray Pesticides

Muharraq Municipal Council member, Ahmed Al-Maqhawi confirmed that work is underway to spray main beaches in Muharraq with pesticides.

Al-Maqhawi explained that because of rising sea levels, which represents a sudden natural phenomenon, insects and rodents appeared on the beaches. Hence the municipal council addressed the Ministry of Health to spray main beaches in Muharraq with pesticides in addition to sewage network projects in various areas in Muharraq.

He confirmed that the spraying process has started in the old Arad area and noted that deployment in more than one area for that work would continue for several days and he expected that the process might take a week until it finishes.
