Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are planning to launch a joint bid to host the FIFA U20 World Cup 2021.
The Gulf neighbours are among eight FIFA member associations who submitted expressions of interest to host the tournament, FIFA announced on Thursday on its official website. Brasil, Indonesia, Peru and a Myanmar-Thailand joint bid are the other rival bids.
The 2021 U20 contenders must submit a formal bid by Aug. 30. FIFA’s ruling Council will pick the winner, likely in October.
The 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup kicked off in Poland on Thursday and will run until June 15.
