Bahrain Signs Deal For New Exhibition Centre

Bahrain authorities have signed a contract with Cebarco Bahrain to build a new BD83.6 million ($221.85 million) state-of-the-art exhibition centre in Sakhir.

The contract for the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre was signed by Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf and Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani with Cebarco Bahrain Chairman Khalid Abdulrahim, a Bahrain News Agency report said.

Al Zayani said the project will be completed by mid-2022.

Located next to the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, the new 308,000-sq-m exhibition and convention centre will be built on a 1.3-million-sq m plot. It will be five times bigger than the current exhibition centre in Sanabis, the minister said, adding that the project will be the largest of its kind in the region.

The new centre will include 10 exhibition halls with a total area of 95,000 sq m, along with all the necessary services, in addition to areas dedicated to retail and events.

The centre will have an external gate, rooms for guards and control, and parking lots that can accommodate up to 1,600 vehicles. The parking lots of sports city will also be used as additional parking facilities.

The new exhibition and convention centre was designed and supervised by German consultant KG & Tilke, who also designed and oversaw the implementation of the Bahrain International Circuit.
