Bahrain to ban old cars from roads?

A member of the parliament (MP) has recently drew flak over his proposal to remove vehicles 20 years and older from the roads of Bahrain.

According to reports, the proposal aims to promote sustainability by reducing air pollution and encouraging people to buy greener options. It also plans to target potentially dangerous vehicles.

The proposal sparked angry reactions on social media against what people called “the lack of sensitivity towards those who cannot afford to buy new vehicles”.

According to the said MP, he “respects the poor and the issue was simply organisational”.

We tried contacting the concerned authorities and individuals for them to clarify the above statement. However, no one was available for a comment.
